Welcome to the Losinj archipelago, to the small
town of Veli Losinj. The island is situated in
Quarner Gulf, with 36 islands, islets and reefs.
The island climate is pleasant all year around.
Century old pine trees, olive trees, variety of
plants and animal species are the distinctive
features of the islands. Many bays, rocky with
pebbles make up

the beaches. Numerous footpaths for beautiful
landscape walks, trekking on marked paths.Each
season brings different fragrance from the various
plants. There are more than 1018 plants on the
islands, such as: agaves, Mexican cactus, palms,
pines, olive trees, figs, citrus fruits, thymus,
sage, asparagus, rosemary, laurel, eucalyptus.
Exotic plants were brought to Losinj by the Sailors
from all over the world.

Around
Losinj arcihepelag livs the largest group of bottlenose
dolphins ( tursiops truncatus ) in Northern Adriatic,
which is an indicator of extremnly clean sea. |

•The
parish church of St. Anthony, originally built in
1480, since 1774 baroque stile.
•The church of Our Lady of Angels, built in
1510, was transformed into a art gallery by captains
donations.
• The church of St. John, after whom the hill
was named, has a beautiful panoramic view of Veli
and Mali Losinj
•The Venetian Tower, from 1445.It was built
to defend the harbour from pirate attacks. Today
is a museum and gallery.
• Apoxyomenos- an antique stautue found in
the Losinj sea ( Island Orjule ) in 1999. It is
a bronze stautue of an athlete - Apoxyiomenos from
the 4th century B.C. A copy is exhibited in the
museum of the Venetian Tower in Veli Losinj.
• Rovenska -the waterbreaker, the foundation
stone was laid by the Hapsburg Archduke Maximilian
in 1856..
• Losinj’s Marine Education Centre,
covers Losinj undersea and the colony of dolphins
found in this area, multimedia, interactive projections,
exhibitions and lectures.
• The forest park in Podjavori includes the
former winter residence of the Hapsburg Archduke
Charles Stephen.
